Where do the factory reverse light wires run from? Im wiring up some bumper mounted reverse lights and im going to wire them into the factory reverse light wiring. Does the reverse light wire run with the same wires for the brake lights on each side? Or is it a seperate harness? I was hoping i could tap into the harness right behind the bumper instead of having to run the wire to the reverse light socket

If you have the trailer 7 blade plug

Pin Number Circuit Circuit Function
1 963 (BK/LB) Trailer Backup Lamps
2 49 (O) Trailer Battery Charge
3 64 (DG) Trailer RH Turn Signal
4 43 (DB) Trailer Brakes
5 206 (W) Trailer Ground
6 52 (Y) Trailer LH Turn Signal
7 962 (BR/W) Trailer Running Lamps
Or,

On right side of the diagram, Park/Neutral Position Switch is really the E4OD Manual Lever Position/Transmission Range (MLP/TR) Sensor
Diagram is probably from the dumb-butt Chilton manual.

See attached diagram from Ford for a 96 Bronco, but same as your 95.

Thanks but i dont see what im looking for, does the reverse light wire run through the 4 pin connectors that are in the rear? The ones that run to the tail lights?

Yo,
It may take awhile for me to obtain the 4 inc connector pin diagram since Comcast is dead slow.

In meantime look for black/ pink wire.

or you can run it from the trailer backup lights wire. i dont have the diagrams posted in my Supermotors but you can use the Black/LightGreen from the trailer harness. its on a relay and shares a 25a fuse with the trailer marker lamps. so it can handle more power if needed

Thanks miesk and king, i dont have factory trailer wiring that im aware of, not sure if every bronco got it or not, but i did add one of those kits that plugs in between the harness on the drivers and pass side connectors. I will look for the black and pink wire, i just had the connectors apart and cleaned them but i dont recall seeing a black and pink wire.

Also is the black and pink wire ran with the tail light harness? I know there is a black and pink wire but i believe i saw that in the tailgate wiring harness.

So is the 4 pin connectors one wire for running lights, one for brake/turn signal, one for reverse and one for ground?

the 4-pin trailer is ground, left light, right light, running lights. there is no reverse in the 4-pin for a trailer

im not 100% sure because i never really though about it before, but i think all the 92-96 have the Trailer Backup Lamp Relay, Trailer Marker Lamp Relay and the Trailer Charge Relay factory. the Backup and Charge relays comes in the Trailer Relay Box while the Marker relay is in the Power Distribution Box. i dont think i ever seen a 92-96 F-series or Bronco without the Trailer Relay Box on the side of the Power Distribution Box. the 94-96 Broncos use a bigger Trailer Relay Box because it also holds 4WABS relay and diode so they had to come with them.

this would make me think that despite not having the tow package, the truck should already be wired for for the trailer reverse lights. my thinking is that if something was ever wrong with the trailer and shorted out the fuse, it would not affect the vehicles lights.

I know mine does have that seperate box, not sure if the relays are present, the add on trailer wiring kit goes inbetween the factory tail light plugs.

I believe i only have 3 plugs i think in the rear, one is the tailgate harness, one plug is for the drivers side tail light and one plug on the pass side for the pass side tail light.

You know what, im a dummy lol, there are also two other 4 pin female plugs that dont plug into anything, they are branched off the main harness. Wonder if this is for the trailer relays?

Are you referring to the underhood Power Distribution Box?

BTW,I claim the Senior Dummification Title here!

Does the trailer reverse light relay just use a standard relay like the horn?

Yo fordbronco1995;
Yes, all are Bosch style relays in different amperages.

A test is to swap the Horn 30 amp relay relay, if horn HONKS with other relays.:thumbup

Thanks miesk, none of the trailer relays are there, i picked up a horn relay and going to put it in the trailer reverse relay spot and am going to test the two spare plugs in the back for power in reverse. I couldnt find any 25 amp relays, only 30 amp was available.

So are the trailer relays also on a fused circuit?

Got them wired up. Thanks for the help guys, put the relay in and tested the plug, it ended up being the black w green stripe wire. I used it for the positive and used the ground on the other trailer harness plug. Works perfect

I have a Redline Tailgate LED light bar I'm installing.

It has the following functions:
1) tail light
2) brake light
3) left signal
4) right signal
5) BACK-UP LIGHT

It plugs into the trailer harness.

It also has an attached white wire that I'm supposed to 'splice into the reverse signal of the vehicle' (for the back-up lights).

MY QUESTION:
How do I go about doing that?

DISCLAIMER: I don't know jack chit about electricity or electrical systems. :banghead :cry

I read this thread but don't understand it.

Yeah it is a lot of random info, first do you have two 4 pin female plugs under the rear bumper on your bronco? They should be about dead center. Behind the rear bumper. Ill try to get a few pics of them tomorrow
